Timber Decking

Transform any outdoor area with first class timber decking that makes an undeniable statement.

Mortlock supplies premium timber decking to projects where outdoor spaces are designed with the same rigour as the architecture itself. Each system is defined by refined profiles, considered fixing methods, and long-term stability that supports lasting beauty in residential, commercial, and public environments.

Timber Decking Range

Our timber decking range is made with tight control over profile and finish. The decking boards are manufactured to align cleanly and maintain their appearance long after installation. Every system is backed by a warranty for performance you can rely on.

Metroplank

Metroplank is a concealed fixed timber decking system which consists of specially grooved timber decking boards and a fastening clip. The clip locks boards into place while allowing for natural movement, and removes the need for surface nails or screws — leaving a clean, seamless finish.

Why Choose Mortlock Timber Decking

Fewer Steps on Site

Mortlock decking installs cleanly with fewer fixings and no pre-drilling. That means faster work on site and a tighter finish once it’s down.

Custom Profiles & Timbers

Choose from a range of profiles, timbers and fixing systems. Every combination is built for consistency, so detail and finish are controlled from design through to install.

Proven Performance

Mortlock systems are used in environments exposed to heat, moisture, foot traffic and salt. They’re tested in real conditions, not just controlled ones.

Reliable, Controlled Supply

Boards are manufactured to strict tolerances and go through extensive quality checks at every stage. Supply is tightly controlled across batches to meet stretch tolerances and avoid variation on site.

Sustainability at Mortlock

At Mortlock, our commitment to sustainable forest products is a responsibility. We recognise the importance of sourcing timber that supports the long-term health of forests, communities and the built environment. Mortlock holds PEFC Chain of Custody certification, verifying that select timber products are sourced through responsible forestry and tracked throughout the supply chain. We’re audited annually under AS 4707 and PEFC ST 2002 standards to ensure transparency, traceability and trust. Every board labelled as certified meets strict sourcing and handling criteria from forest to finished product.

FAQS

How wide are Mortlock timber decking boards?

Our decking boards range from 85mm to 135mm wide, depending on the profile and timber species.

What timber is best for decking?

Class 1 and Class 2 Australian hardwoods are widely considered the most durable options. Jarrah is often the best all-round choice when balancing performance, aesthetics and cost. We’ll help you select the right species based on environment, finish and availability.

What is the lifespan of timber decking?

Lifespan depends on timber species, exposure and upkeep. With regular maintenance and proper installation, a high-quality hardwood deck can last 40–50 years or more in Australian conditions.

What timber species are available for Mortlock decking systems?

We offer a selection of hardwood species, including Spotted Gum, Burnt Ash, Jarrah, Pacific Teak and more, depending on the decking profile. Get in touch for species availability and PEFC-certified options.

Can Mortlock timber decking be used in bushfire-prone areas?

Yes. Many of our timber decking products can meet up to BAL 29 requirements when specified with appropriate hardwood species. Always confirm with your project certifier and check timber availability for BAL zones.

Is Mortlock timber decking pre-finished or raw?

We supply decking in both pre-oiled and raw options, depending on your specification. Pre-oiling helps with installation and early-stage protection. Speak with us about the best finish for your application.

Does Mortlock install decking or supply only?

Mortlock is a supply-only partner. We work with architects, builders and specifiers to deliver high-grade decking systems, ready for installation by your preferred contractor.

How do I maintain timber decking from Mortlock?

Maintenance depends on species, finish and exposure. We provide detailed care guides for each product, including cleaning, recoating and inspection intervals. You can view the general maintenance guide here.

How does Mortlock’s decking compare to composite decking?

Unlike synthetic options, Mortlock’s decking systems use natural timber, chosen for architectural impact and natural longevity. While composites can offer convenience, they lack the warmth, refinement and custom finish that our hardwood systems deliver. We break down the full comparison in our Timber vs Composite Decking guide.
