About The Project
Established in Western Australia, Mortlock Timber has built a reputation for producing high-quality architectural timber products used by designers and builders across the country. This building serves as the Mortlock Timber head office and manufacturing space. Mortlock’s products are designed, refined and produced, in WA making it a true embodiment of the brand’s expertise.
The exterior of the building features 135×19 & 70×19 Trendplank Tulipwood exterior cladding, chosen for its clean grain and refined finish that offers a gentle yet sophisticated appearance. Its natural tones softens the building’s form, while providing durability suited to Australia’s varying climate.
Inside, the material palette shifts to a more tactile and expressive combination of timbers. 30×30 Proplank American Oak ceiling battens introduces a light, inviting atmosphere with its natural golden hues and fine texture, bringing a sense of calm and craftsmanship to the workspace. In contrast, the 120×19 Shou Sugi Ban Burnt Ash interior wall cladding adds depth and character, creating a striking visual balance between light and dark surfaces.
The office stands as both a functional workspace and a showcase of what can be achieved when architecture and timber craftsmanship come together.
