Freshwater Residence

Freshwater, NSW

About The Project

Located in Freshwater, NSW this residential project features a refined material palette that balances clean architectural form with the natural texture of timber.

Externally, Trendplank 120×19 T&G Malvec cladding defined the façade, offering stability, durability and a refined, consistent finish. As a thermally modified timber, Malvec offers improved resistance to movement compared to other timber species, making the timber choice a reliable cladding solution for exterior applications. The Trendplank T&G installation system allowed for the vertical installation of random lengths, creating a clean expression with subtle shadow lines.

The cladding has been factory coated in Sioo:X Wood Protection System, a mineral-based treatment designed to support long-term performance and even weathering. Rather than maintaining the timbers original deep colour with regular maintenance and re-coating, the system allows the Malvec timber to gradually develop a soft, silver-grey patina over time.

Over time, the Malvec cladding will continue to evolve, gradually softening in tone as it weathers. With minimal maintenance, the Sioo:X system works to protect the timber providing a reliable and consistent external finish.
