Coral Vale Residence

Dapto, NSW

About The Project

Nestled in the growing community of Dapto, NSW, the Coral Vale project showcases a contemporary approach to residential design, led by Evolution Building Group. The home features a striking exterior with Mortlock Timber’s Trendplank Shou Sugi Ban Spotted Gum cladding, pre-oiled to highlight the natural warmth and durability of the timber. Inside, the design continues with Mortlock’s Proplank Batten profile in Spotted Gum, also coated in Cutek Clear, creating a cohesive flow between exterior and interior spaces.

Set against the backdrop of Dapto’s scenic escarpment and just a short drive from Wollongong’s beaches, this project blends natural materials with thoughtful craftsmanship to deliver a timeless home that reflects both its surroundings and the lifestyle of the Illawarra region.

From a technical perspective, the combination of Trendplank and Proplank designs provides both aesthetic versatility and long-term performance. Shou Sugi Ban finish enhances timbers durability through traditional charring techniques, while the interior boasts a coating of Cutek Clear oil that penetrates deeply to protect against moisture, UV exposure, and dimensional movement. Ensuring the timber maintains its stability and natural beauty in NSW’s varied coastal climate.
