Do you need BP1.1 and BP1.2 certification for timber cladding?

No, BP1.1 and BP1.2 certification for timber cladding is not required. BP1.1 and BP1.2 are clauses in the Building Code of Australia Volume One (see below) and are concerned about the structural performance of commercial buildings and materials.

Timber cladding does not contribute to the structural integrity of the building; the building must provide structural integrity to hold the weight of the timber cladding. Because timber cladding does not contribute to structural integrity, certification is not required.

On request, Mortlock can provide the weight of your selected timber cladding for you to give to your structural engineer.
