Ideal for panelling, the rich colour and satin smooth grain of Myrtle is simply stunning. This major species is usually found in the Tasmanian Rainforest, but is harvested by Hydrowood from Tasmanian reservoirs.
BENEFITS OF USING HYDROWOOD MYRTLE
It is the major species found throughout Tasmania. With colour varying from pink to a warm reddish brown, this timber is even-textured and has a fine grain that can be straight, interlocked or feature a fiddleback pattern.
Myrtle can produce knotty wood and burls, which are highly coveted and invariably favoured and sought by craftspeople. Myrtle makes an excellent veneer and finishing timber, delivering a very smooth finish.

Applications
Because of its fine, straight and smooth grain, Hydrowood Myrtle is popular for feature panelling and ceiling lining. Dependent on the level of maintenance, this timber is an excellent option for internal timber panelling as it provides texture and warm to spaces. Hydrowood Myrtle is a suitable option for internal applications on commercial and residential designs where a rich colour and a satin smoothness is desired.

A great benefit of Hydrowood Myrtle is the pink and red tones the timber offers naturally. For a natural look on internally installed Hydrowood Myrtle, we recommend a clear finish of Enviro Clear.
This coating is applied before delivery and is designed for timber in internal spaces.

Hydrowood Myrtle has a red and pink colour that can vary depending on the piece of timber. Generally, Tasmanian Myrtle will vary between deep red and pale pink.

HYDROWOOD MYRTLE PROPERTIES
Hydrowood Myrtle only provides a moderate workability but will deliver a very smooth finish – perfect for internal applications. It can be difficult to glue and care needs to be taken when nailing to avoid splitting the timber. It has a Bushfire Alert Level rating of 12.5 and has moderate shrinkage
